Dr BOUNCE BRINGS HOME MASTERS GOLD
Geelong Chiropractor Dr Nick Hodgson produced a Gold Medal performance to win the World Masters Games Triple Jump Final on the weekend. This followed his 6th place in the Long Jump in what was a very close competition with only 40cm separating the first six places. “Competing against athletes from all over the world was a real buzz and very motivating” said Nick. This was Nick’s first international level competition at the Masters level. “There are some very serious and talented athletes out on the track, and lots of fit and active senior cits having a great time.” This Gold adds to Nick’s tally from the Geelong, Victorian Country, and Victorian Masters Championships, and Australian Masters Games last season.
In his “younger years” Nick was ranked in the top 8 nationally in one of the most skilful, challenging and jarring events in Athletics. “After a 15 year break from the track, it has been great to get back to training and competing, motivating me to get into better shape. Like most middle aged men, you don’t realise how you are progressively becoming slower, rounder and stiffer as the years creep by. But the good news is that you can regain some of your lost vigour when you make regular exercise a priority.”
Nick is a Chiropractor with 20 years experience in private practice, 18 of those years in Ocean Grove, and has more recently been consulting at Super Healthy in High Street Belmont. “I feel like I might have an unfair advantage because I can apply all the principles of natural performance enhancement on myself that I use with all of my practice members. And by being a regular Chiropractic patient myself I have been able to improve my flexibility and recovery from niggly injuries, so that when I get on the competition track I am in tip-top shape.”
